Corporate & Investment Banking

Investment banking grows a company while corporate finance manages a company. A corporate finance professional deals with day-to-day financial operations and handles short and long-term business goals, while an investment banker focuses on a bevy of products all having to do with their clients such as: advisory, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raisings, security underwritings, private equity and initial public offerings (IPOs). Within the equities/stocks field, your primary duties are to buy and sell financial instruments such as stocks/equities and equity derivative products on behalf of their clients or employers. After making investment decisions that are approved,you would be responsible for carrying out the transactions. Ideal candidates are highly analytical, have an attention to detail, and have great communication skills as well as a high aptitude for patience and discipline.

Fixed Income / Credit

Fixed income broadly refers to forms of investment security that pay a fixed interest or dividends until their maturity date. At maturity, investors are repaid the principal amount they invested. Within the fixed income/credit field, your primary duties will be to buy and sell a variety of bond financial instruments on behalf of her/his client or employer. Candidates are highly strategic, are great with numbers, and are team players. They are analytical, patient, disciplined, and have strong attention to detail.

Risk Management

Risk Managers control financial risk by using hedging and other strategies to limit or offset the probability of a financial loss or a company’s exposure to financial uncertainty. Among the risks they try to limit are those due to currency or commodity price changes. Insurance managers decide how best to limit a company’s losses by obtaining insurance against risks, such as disability payments for an employee who gets hurt on the job or costs imposed by a lawsuit against the company.
